Chenin Blanc
Association
THE CBA SEEKS TO PROMOTE CHENIN BLANC AS A SOURCE OF OUTSTANDING QUALITY WINES ACROSS THE STYLISTIC SPECTRUM.
CBA's Focus Areas
1
To ensure that South African Chenin Blanc takes its rightful place with the other great white wines of the world.
2
To showcase local expressions of the grape in single-variety and blended wines at South African and international events and bringing Chenin Blanc wines to the attention of international gatekeepers and tastemakers.
3
To support academic, technical and market research on the grape, its viticulture, viniculture, climate resilience and consumer appeal.
”Chenin had become the flag bearer for the country’s contemporary fine wine renaissance and the lifeblood pumping through the country’s wine culture.”
- Malu Lambert, wine critic and journalist
The CBA's focus for 2024 will be to expand the conversation around Chenin Blanc; be that how we talk about Chenin Blanc, showcase the tasting room experience during the annual Chenin Safari, or explore the regionality of Chenin with technical tastings across the Cape Winelands.
“What is not surprising is that standards continue to rise. As a group, local winemakers are continually upping their game.”
- Ken Forrester, co-founder, and chairman of the Chenin Blanc Association
UPCOMING EVENTS
A HISTORY OF COLLABORATION
The CBA would not have had this impact without close working relationships with its members and with these industry partners.
”There is love for this grape and belief in its versatility. And it is precisely this diversity of offering of Chenin Blanc and regionally expressive wines that tell the story of South Africa and its heritage – in one grape.”
- Fiona McDonald, wine writer and international wine judge
