Chenin Blanc International Congress

We are pleased to remind you that the first Chenin Blanc International Congress is approaching and will take place in Angers, France, from 01–03 July 2019. The conference is being co-organised by the Chenin Academy and Destination Angers in partnership with Interloire, the Wine Federation of Anjou Saumur, the Federation of Wine Associations of Indre-et-Loire and Sarthe, the University of Stellenbosch and the Chenin Blanc Association.

The conference programme titled Chenin Blanc in a Changing Environment was put together by the international scientific committee according to these challenges, and highlights a diversity of issues that should lead to exciting debates and exchanges.

This programme will be accompanied by exceptional tastings of Chenins from around the world. In the afternoons, various visits are being arranged related to the themes of the congress. On Monday evening (01 July), a cocktail party in Angers will allow you to meet Chenin lovers from all over the world with a glass of Chenin in hand! On Tuesday evening (02 July) you can participate in a gala evening in the sumptuous setting of the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud where chefs will use their imagination to create the finest dishes to pair with the great Chenins of the world.

Registration is now open and we urge producers and other interested parties to register as soon as possible. The early bird rate of €327 is available till 30 April 2019. The programme details are available on the website:

Some producers indicated that they would like to stay on for a day or two after the congress for more visits. I have already made contact pertaining to a visit to Moulin Touchais - the appointment has been provisionally arranged for Thursday 04 July 2019.

I'm in contact with the organisers and we hope to secure accommodation for the SA attendees with Loire producers, thus please keep me informed of your registration. Please also keep me informed if you are interested to stay for further visits.

I will be in contact re the shipment of the wines for the congress but for any questions or further information, please contact Ina Smith at
